Is my child's Korean really okay like this?

My child lives abroad and has been speaking Korean with his mother since elementary school. He is advanced in listening, barely intermediate in speaking, and completely beginner in reading and writing Korean.

I want my child to never forget his native language. Every summer vacation, when I visit my family, I look for Korean language courses for children. I wonder if these short summer Korean language classes will be effective.

My child has had Korean language tutoring since kindergarten overseas and has even had him attend a Korean language academy for children during summer vacation, but he is not interested and is embarrassed by Korean.

Why should I learn Korean? I can just use a foreign language, right? It's a question of self-identity, and the motivation to learn a learning identity is the most important thing.
